Dat we nooit vergeten
Tien jaar geleden kwam Shane McConkey om tijdens een ski-base ongeluk. Tijd om weer eens zijn tribute te plaatsen…

10 jaar alweer, vrijwel mijn hele skileven… Niet alleen een icoon, vanwege zijn grensverleggende skills, maar vooral ook vanwege zijn persoonlijkheid. Zo’n man waar iedereen van nature tegen op kijkt, zoals dat bij ons is bij Johan Cruyff of Willem van Hanegem.

De realiteit is Rogier dat hij nu al vergeten is.

Ik ben geboren in 84, na Cruyff’s laatste voetbaljaar. Maar reken maar dat ik en al mijn teamgenoten (bij een Rotterdamse BVO 😁) het liefst nummer 14 droegen @Hooykaas. Sterker nog, dat is nog zo.
Wij zijn geen graadmeter wat McConkey betreft (of skien uberhaupt), maar in de Amerikaanse skiscene is hii nog steeds, by far, het allergrootste icoon.
