The best thing is its Location. It's walking distance from the Obertraun Dachsteinhöhlen Bahnhof ~ 400 meters. Other than this the apartment has some nice views from the apartment. The apartment that we had, had all basic amenities in the kitchen. The rooms are a bit old but clean. Before coming to Obertraun, you must keep a watch on the weather.

Hubert and Heidi were friendly and went above and beyond our expectations. When I arrived I explained I had lost my wallet on the bus journey there. They were very understanding and phoned a friend from the village, who worked for the bus company. The wallet was later found and returned to the Salzburg office, the friend collected it for me and dropped it off at B&B Simmer at midnight (the end of her shift). Hubert stayed up specially and returned the wallet to me at breakfast (all intact). Such acts of kindness made our holiday extra memorable. Thank you all so much.

When we arrived, it was the off season. Most restaurants, shops, and hotels were closed. However, we were upgraded to a stay at Dormio Resort Obertraun and it was beautiful. Right by the lake. The food was also delicious and the staff helpful and friendly.

We stayed in Obertraun as a base to explore Halstatt but found as our trip got closer that there was a lot more to do in Obertraun and Halstatt than originally thought so our one night stay turned out to not be long enough. If I were booking again I would definitely stay two or three nights so we could explore the salt mines, walks and view points.

We stayed in Obertraum so we could take the ferry to go to Hallstatt by ferry. The ferry ride was amazing, heavenly peace and tranquil. However, we did not know enough about the area. Obertraun is probably the best place for easy access to Hallstatt (besides being in Hallstatt itself). Bike rentals are easy and the bike ride to Hallstatt is also easy with very little elevation change. Lots of biking in the area.RandyUnited States of America - 10Scored 10

Perfect location, fantastic view to Hallstatt and the mountains. Easy to reach Hallstatt even with bicycle, Dachstein and mountains are also very close. Small village, quieter than the nearby Hallstatt. Can walk around everywhere on foot. Good for few days with public transport, longer than that you may want a car since there is only one restaurant ("Pizzeria") and buses come only once per hour.JessicaIsrael

House is only 40min walking from Hallstatt town centre, you can see part of lake while you are walking which is amazing(the reason i booked). If you wanna take 543 bus that’s the another option to go Hallstatt only a few minutes. Between Obertraun station and Hallstatt banhoff only 3 minutes by train and not more than €2. And also location is very close to Cable car. I would definetely recommend the Haus Alpenblick Zafer Best regards

If you are coming from Hallstatt just make sure to check bus times. They don't run too often around 16.00, but they take you all the way to the hotel.
